Man drives into house after running from police

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

A man drove his car into a house after leading police on a chase in Independence early Thursday morning.

It happened about 1:45 a.m. near E. 47th St. and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Police attempted to make a routine traffic stop when the driver took off. Police pursued the man.

By the time police caught up to him the man had driven his car into a house.

Officers say it appeared the driver took the corner too fast, lost control, drove through a fence and hit the house. 

Police say the car hit the corner of the house but did not fully enter the house.

No one was hurt but police quickly took the driver into custody.

    A Jackson County jury has convicted a 46-year-old Independence man who was charged in connection with the road rage shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead last summer. Early on Saturday morning, the jury found John C. Young guilty on six of eight felony counts: involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon, assault, tampering with physical evidence, and two counts of armed criminal action.
