KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Kansas City could soon settle a class action lawsuit worth $2.4 million dollars.

The lawsuit concerns arrest warrants and the fines people paid to cancel them.

In Kansas City, it was $25 if you forgot to show up to court and a judge issued a warrant. It turns out that's not legal, according to state law.

That means the city may soon refund millions of dollars.

During Wednesday's Kansas City council meeting, no one wanted to discuss the matter in the finance committee. It went behind closed doors and the council is scheduled to vote on it Thursday.

The lawsuit is filed on behalf of Gregory Johnson and others who paid $25.
