KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A woman is recovering after being shot in the arm while driving on I-35.

The woman’s child was in the car with her. The child wasn't hurt, and the mom is expected to be OK.

The mother and the child were heading north on Interstate 35 when she suddenly realized she had been shot in the arm while driving under the 12th Street overpass.

Another person also called for help, saying they believe someone may have thrown something at them while driving.

Neighbor Arielle Stephenson said she was shocked about the shooting.

"I was just shocked," Stephenson said. "I mean, she has four kids and I don't want anything bad to happen to her. But having that happen on the highway is just scary because I have two kids of my own and I don't want anyone shooting at me when I'm driving."

Right now, police don't have any suspects. They believe a white vehicle is involved.
