KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Officers broke an intoxicated driver's window and chased her after she fled because they feared for the safety of a child in the car.

At about 4:25 p.m. on Saturday, officers got a call about a suspicious car with an intoxicated woman driving.

Officers found the vehicle at 47th and Pennsylvania and tried to talk to the driver. She refused to roll down her window for some time.

She put the car in reverse toward a patrol vehicle and then her window was broken by an officer trying to take her into custody.

Officers saw a small child in the car and feared for the child’s safety.

The driver then fled the scene going 35 mph. She eventually stopped at 39th and Southwest Trafficway and was taken into custody.

The driver was taken to the hospital due to her apparent intoxication.

The child, suspect, and officers were not injured during this incident.
