KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

A Kansas City, Kansas man is breathing a sigh of relief after escaping unharmed when two men stole his car at gunpoint on Friday morning.

Allen McCaffee is changing his locks, fearful the men will return to his home.

“I’m definitely going to be looking over my shoulder,” McCaffee said.

Early in the morning, he was backing out of his driveway in his Jeep just like he would on any other day. “Just letting it warm up,” said McCaffee.

But on this day, there was a man blocking his driveway. He thinks the man had been crouching behind the truck to the side of his driveway.

“He said, ‘If you don’t want to get shot, get out of the car,’” McCaffee recalled. Another man was there holding a rifle. So, he did as they asked and gave up his car.

“They just took off with it,” McCaffee said. “A minute or two later, I called the police. They were out here real quick.”

Later on Friday, he got the call from police that his Jeep had been found. However, he says this is a reminder to be vigilant everywhere you go – even in your own home and in a quiet neighborhood like his.

“This could happen anywhere,” McCaffee said. “Always keep that in mind, and just be safe.

McCaffee says he'll be able to pick up his Jeep once the police are done searching for fingerprints and other evidence.
