Two Jackson County men were charged on Thursday in the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old Blue Springs man.

Malik S. Duren, a 17-year-old from Kansas City, and Mahki I. Hall, an 18-year-old from Grain Valley, each face charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree murder, and three counts of armed criminal action.

The second-degree murder charge cites that the victim, Luis Cedres, was killed as a result of being shot during the perpetration of the felony burglary.

According to court records, the victims were inside a house in the 1700 block of SW Parkridge Drive in Blue Springs on Wednesday when three men entered with handguns. The men had covered faces, but one of the victims recognized one of the intruders.

Cedres was downstairs and went outside, but he was shot. A witness said that he had heard two men fighting outside the house and that one man had Cedres in a headlock. The other man then pointed a gun at the victim and fired three more shots as he tried to run off.

One of the suspects was injured by a gunshot.

Prosecutors have requested bonds of $250,000 and $150,000 on the defendants.
