KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

It’s was busy at the Kansas City Public Library on the County Club Plaza as Missourians line up to register to vote at the last minute.

Wednesday is the deadline in Missouri, including online registration and in-person registration.

While registering to vote is important, voters should also be on the lookout for identity thieves.

Experts said be careful when you’re approached by strangers, at say a grocery store, looking to get you to register, because registration requires some very personal information, like your driver’s license, address, and last four digits of your social security number, so it’s better to do it in person.

It’s also important to be aware of voter suppression scams or people trying to steal your vote. Remember you can’t vote over the phone or by email.

The Kansas deadline is Oct. 18. In Johnson County, the turnout so far has been huge.

The election commissioner said they just reached an all-time record of 400,000 registered voters and more keep on coming in.

Their goal is to make registering to vote as easy as possible. Voters don’t have to come in person to do it, they can find the form online.

“They can print it out, fill it out, scan it and email it in or take a picture of it and text it in,” Johnson County Election Commissioner Ronnie Metsker said.
