KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

MLB auctions off Royals bats and baseballs every year online for charity, one item this year raised some concerns.

Among the standard autographed items and chances to meet former players, there was a hat signed by Lorenzo Cain, and it advertised the Verruckt waterslide where 10-year-old Caleb Schwab died this summer.

Both Schlitterbahn Waterpark and the Kansas City Royals say it didn't come from them. A Royals spokesperson says MLB took down the listing after the organization notified them about it.

Many fans did not think highly of the baseball memorabilia that was going to be auctioned.

“I don't think it's a good idea just because of what happened at Schlitterbahn,” Madison Eklund said.

The Royals believe Cain signed the hat months before the incident and that MLB posted the listing.

MLB Auction did not respond to KCTV5’s questions about the hat or whether it would be replaced with a comparable item.
