LENEXA, KS (KCTV) -

Police are looking for a culprit after a dozen cars were broken into over the weekend.

Several people a neighborhood off 79th Street and Quivira Road woke up to a surprise Sunday morning when they found out that their cars, in a normally quiet neighborhood, were broken into.

Police say someone burglarized the vehicles about 3 a.m. along several streets near 79th Terrace and Monrovia Street.

The person forced entry into some vehicles and just opened unlocked doors to others while stealing cash and other small valuables. No arrests have been made.

Barbara Entleutner lives in the area. She saw police speaking to her neighbor Sunday morning.

“I talked to that same neighbor and both of her daughter’s SUV’s were broken into. The windows smashed. And at least out of one car, there were several items stolen. We usually watch each other’s places very closely,” Entleutner said. “The parking lot lights are old. They don’t cover a big area. I think there are safety things that we could fix around here that could help.

About a month and a half ago, 23 cars had been ransacked in another Lenexa neighborhood. Police say that an arrest was made in that case.
