KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

On Friday, a Jackson County jury convicted Christopher Perkins in the March 2015 murder of Kelvin Paige.

Perkins was convicted of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon -- which is a class A felony.

Perkins was charged as a prior offender and will be sentenced on Dec. 2, 2016.

Kelvin Paige, a 53-year-old from Kansas City, was found near a vehicle that had crashed into a power pole near East 25th Street and Harrison Street.

Paige had been shot in the torso and was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
