KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

For nearly a month, the operators of the Aquaponics Urban Farm at 29th and Wabash have been locked out due to a dispute.

However, the dispute is over and the urban farm will be back in business.

Dre Taylor, president of the Males to Men mentoring group, said it feels good to be back inside the Aquaponics Farm, getting their tilapia farm up and rolling.

“They’ll just float on down, like this, and we’ll harvest them on this end, and we’ll start them on that end.”

The group was temporarily locked out by Harrel Johnson Jr., the executive director of the Kansas City Community Keys non-profit group.

The dispute arose over what once was a donation and sale from Johnson’s father and the Kansas City Land Bank.

“In a negotiation, you try to resolve what is best, what is your best price and that’s how you do business when you’re trying to sell a business,” Johnson said. “In this case, if we weren’t going to be able to work together, we were trying to sell a business and we’re looking out for the organization.”

Ted Anderson, executive director of the Land Bank, said they will sell the land for an inexpensive price, but the city expects it to be put in production responsibly.

Taylor said while the delay has put them behind schedule, he hopes to have everything up and going by the end of the year.
