KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The new superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools is on a mission to get the district fully accredited again.

That journey continues Tuesday night when Mark Bedell will meet with parents and teachers during his series of 10 community meetings.

It's Bedell’s third scheduled meetings on his “Listening and Learning Tour.” He hopes to build relationships and get feedback from family and staff.

Bedell and his administration have stressed the importance of building trust and creating positive relationships with students and parents.

Bedell said the district has to take a non-traditional approach to educating kids to make quicker progress in the classroom.

“My expectation for them will be the same expectation that I have for the 15,000 students we have in this school system,” Bedell told KCTV5 in April. “That is, we give these students an opportunity to thrive and become successfully and globally competitive as they graduate from this school system."

Tuesday’s Listening & Learning Meeting is from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Linwood Family YMCA at 3221 Indiana Ave.

All are welcome to attend.
