KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Royals’ season is over a little earlier than we would’ve liked, but they’re ending on a major bright note.

Their World Series win last year made Kauffman stadium viable again.

The Royals averaged more than 31,000 fans per game. That’s the largest number since the glory years in the ‘70s and ‘80s. More people bought season tickets than they have in years.

You don’t even have to be a baseball fan to go to Kauffman. There’s great food, a great atmosphere, and tailgating. Baseball fan or not, it’s a chance to wear Kansas City pride on your sleeve.

Of course, many fans we spoke with are bummed this year’s run is over, but they’re still operating on that World Series high.

“Definitely not a letdown,” said Andrew Caldwell, a Royals fan. “I mean, the last two years -- what a great run. And we've got one more year with the nucleus still together, and hopefully we'll have a great 2017.”

We spoke with one woman who joked that she’s not sure what she’s going to do after this.

Sooner than you think, baseball season will be back! In the meantime, maybe watch some football.

So, just switch from blue to red and walk next door to cheer on the Chiefs at Arrowhead.
