Man found dead inside home in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating a homicide on the 2500 block of Poplar Avenue. 

Residents in that area say they went to check on a friend at his house Tuesday evening.

When they arrived they found the man dead and called the police.

Officers, along with the crime scene investigations unit, arrived about 8 p.m. and found the man dead inside his home.

Kansas City police say the man was not shot but are investigating the case as a homicide.

There is no suspect information at this time. 

It's the 88th homicide in Kansas City so far in 2016.
