RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) -

A Raytown home is most likely a total loss after a fire early Tuesday morning.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. in the 9300 block of E. 60th Terrace.

No one was home, and fortunately, no one was hurt in the blaze.

Kansas City Fire Department Battalion Chief Gary Jones says the fire started in the basement and spread to the kitchen.

Jones says he did not hear smoke detectors.

More than a handful of KCFD fire trucks responded to the call along with Raytown police.

Firefighters broke most of the windows and cut a hole in the garage to ventilate the home.

The cause of the fire remains unknown but a fire investigator is scheduled to be on the scene about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
