KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City man who was in an awful moped crash is starting to heel after waking from a coma.

A trip to his local coffee shop is part of Ben Miller's therapy.

“I come in here every day and have a macchiato. I come here every day of my life,” he said.

Miller has spent the last month in a hospital bed recovering from a coma his suffered in a wreck near East 31st Street and The Paseo. His friends and co-workers raised money to help his recovery.

Now that the bearded bartender is feeling better, he can't even get a cup of tea without meeting people who helped him.

Miller's friends say it speaks to his character.

“He has made himself a very important and memorable person in this community and that would help him anywhere,” Andrea Tudhope said.

But Miller says that's part of the generosity he loves about Kansas City.

“It's been really valuable to me and meant a lot of recovery going forward. Even though its seems to be a small thing for someone, it goes along way,” Miller said.

Miller says he will ride his scooter again, but from now on, he's wearing a helmet.
