OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

Police are investigating after a vehicle struck and killed a 2-year-old girl in Olathe.

The toddler has been identified as Payton Barnett. A memorial honoring her appeared in her family's front yard near where she was killed.

Just before 2 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 15100 block of South Blackfoot Drive on a call about an injury accident involving a toddler.

Police Sgt. Brian Hill says a preliminary investigation indicates speeding was not a factor.

Investigators say the toddler apparently ran into the street and was struck by a car. The 26-year-old driver stopped at the scene

Lifesaving efforts were administered, but the girl died at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Olathe police at 913-971-7500 or 913-971-6950.
