KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Relatives are speaking out about the senseless murders of 8-year-old Jayden Ugwuh and 9-year-old Montell Ross.

Ugwuh and Ross were killed in a shooting Saturday morning in their own home on the 5700 block of College Avenue.

Family members say it's very tough and they have to lean on one another as they try to cope with the losses.

"I mean, it's almost like an assassination, you know, for that to happen," said Reggie Banks, the great uncle of Ugwuh and Ross. "To have people come over and just randomly shooting into the house is just unbelievable."

Callie Banks is the boys' great-grandmother.

Since the tragedy last weekend, she has been surrounded by her sons. All have tried to figure out exactly what led the shooters to being at the home.

"It's such a great shock to us at the moment," said Callie Banks. "And we hope that trouble doesn't last..always."

Kevin Banks, the boys' uncle, served in the military. He looked back in his experience, taking the shooters to task.

"I know what it takes to have honor...and what these people did, they were very dishonorable," Kelvin Banks said. "I can't imagine not seeing them by some foolishness."
