ST. LOUIS (AP) - Parts of Missouri are so dry that corn crops are suffering and hay for cattle is in short supply, as water becomes increasingly scarce. Missouri has had below-average rainfall since winter. The U.S. Drought Monitor map shows that nearly all of Missouri is experiencing drought, with several counties in northern and southwestern parts of the state especially hard-hit. Much of the western U.S. is also experiencing drought. But Missouri is the only Midwestern state with such severe conditions.

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Many students in one Missouri school district won't be using bathrooms designated by gender any longer. The Kansas City Star reports that the North Kansas City School District has installed gender-neutral restrooms at two new elementary schools. The district also renovated bathrooms at North Kansas City High School and at two sixth-grade centers with a gender-neutral design. Inside the bathrooms, stalls are enclosed with floor-to-ceiling walls and lockable doors.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Kansas and Missouri officials hope to attract the nearly 700 well-paying USDA jobs that are being moved out of Washington D.C. The Kansas City Star reports that Kansas and Missouri hope to land the jobs for the Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture when they move as part of a reorganization announced this month.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty for a St. Louis man charged with killing three people in two separate shootings last year. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that prosecutors have filed notice that they will seek to have 26-year-old Ollie Lynch Jr. put to death if he's convicted of the killings. Lynch is charged in the 2017 shooting deaths of 31-year-old Jeramee Ramey, 17-year-old Jalen Woods and 25-year-old Amber Green.
