Deer flips in air, survives collision with police cruiser

Posted: Updated:
KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

It's almost everyone's fear while driving on the highway -- encountering a deer in the roadway.

Over the weekend, a Kenton County officer was surprised as a deer entered the path of his cruiser.

"We think this video is a pretty good training video on how to react when a four-legged furry friend attempts to abruptly cross your path," said the Kenton County Police Department.

According to the caption of the video posted to Facebook, Officer Pittaluga applied his brakes and steered away from the deer in a controlled manner.

"Although he didn't manage to avoid the collision, he did maintain control of his vehicle throughout the entire incident," read the post.

The officer was unharmed, but the cruiser did sustain some damage, said police.

As for the deer, he appeared to brush off the incident before quickly running away into the woods.
