The Shawnee Mission School District is allowing the Meadowbrook redevelopment project to move forward.

The school board took no action on the tax district, allowing the current plan for the redevelopment of the former Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club to move forward.

The property, located at West 91st Street and Nall Avenue, will be developed into one of Johnson County’s largest parks with an area for housing and a hotel.

The school board is not legally required to approve the tax district. The board only has to take a vote if it wants to veto the tax district, which it did not do.

Board members who expressed concerns last week said Wednesday that they were satisfied with the feedback the public and Prairie Village leaders gave them in recent days through calls and emails.

They were especially satisfied with the resolution Prairie Village city council passed this week, which among other things promises to end the tax district on time.

The city council also pledged to have conversations with the Shawnee Mission School District about how the park could benefit students.
