LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -

A naked man walking down the street caused quite the scare for elementary school administrators, forcing them to evacuate a playground and put the school on a brief lockdown.

A parent snapped a photo of the 24-year-old man about 12:50 p.m. Monday near Franklin Elementary located at 201 W Mill St.

"Officers were able to apprehend the man right away. They were able to tell that he was very intoxicated or high on something. They called for an ambulance and the man was taken to the hospital for evaluation," said Capt. Andy Hedrick with the Liberty Police Department.

The school's principal, Andy Wright, said third graders on the playground were hurried into the school as a precaution. He said it was possible that some students may have witnessed the police officers confronting the man.

Police arrested the man near Gallatin and Schraeder streets. Prosecutors say he will most likely face a charge of indecent exposure.

Wright sent the following letter home to parents:

Dear Franklin Families,

It is my duty to report an incident that occurred during the school day along the eastern boundary of the school property.  At approximately 12:50 p.m., office personnel observed an individual without any clothes on walking southbound across the intersection of Mill Street and Gallatin Road. Following our safety protocols, the playground was evacuated and the police department was called immediately.  As a safety precaution, we enacted a lockdown within the school building. Students and teachers remained inside until district security officers gave us the "all clear signal".

Officers from Liberty Police Department and school district security arrived on the scene quickly.

The individual was confronted by police officers and taken away without confrontation.  However, our third grade students were on the playground at the time of this incident. While the teachers and students evacuated the playground immediately, it is possible that some students may have witnessed the police officers confronting the individual.

To our knowledge, no other students witnessed this incident.  As you know, our fourth grade classrooms are positioned along the east side of the building, but those students were eating lunch at the time this incident took place
