KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Construction on Kansas City's streetcar project will shut off part of Delaware Street for the next month.

This portion of the project will close off traffic and street parking on Delaware Street from Third Street to Independence Avenue through March 9.

During that time, crews will be laying track and installing a pedestrian median on Fifth and Delaware streets.

To help businesses in the area thrive, a group called the Downtown Lunch Brunch is inviting people to spend Wednesday afternoon at restaurants like Cafe Al Dente and the Farmhouse.

People are encouraged to walk or take advantage of the Wyandotte Street public parking garage's discounted $3 rate.

Streetcar officials say crews are working six days a week. The entire project is slated for completion in the fall.
