KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

One of the four teens hurt in a crash has died, sources told KCTV5 Friday afternoon.

Tierra Smith died exactly a week after a vehicle plowed into her and three other teens.

On Sunday, Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman charged community activist Tamika Pledger with four counts of reckless aggravated battery.

Gorman declined comment Friday afternoon on the teen's death. He said he would not release any additional information in this case until Monday.

Pledger was released from the Wyandotte County Jail on Monday after she posted bond, which was set at $50,000. She will face a judge next week.

Pledger is a candidate for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County Commissioner, 1st District at-large position. She has been a community leader decrying violence in the community - especially involving young people.

Pledger was driving in the 1300 block of Troup in Kansas City, KS, when she hit the four teens on Jan. 30. Witnesses told KCTV5 that she was quite distraught and pleaded for help.

Gorman is not accusing Pledger of intentionally hitting the teens. Instead, he says she knew the potential for harm and ignored those risks.

Family members have said Pledger raced to the scene because she heard a niece was going to be involved in a fight, and she sought to stop the altercation from occurring.

In addition to Smith, a boy and two girls were hurt in the crash. Family members of the boy have said he suffered broken bones including in his legs.

Smith attended a high school in the Raytown School District. Administrators will have counselors on hand Monday to help students cope with the death of Smith.

Desiree Golden has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money to cover for her sisters' medical expenses.

Golden says her sisters Essence broke her leg and Brandy shattered her left wrist and broke her left arm. They are both recovering in the hospital but will need items like crutches and a wheel chair to aid in their recovery.
