Jay Nixon inadvertently makes Missouri butt of jokes - KCTV5

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon inadvertently made the Show-Me State the butt of national jokes.

A member of Nixon's staff tweeted under his account a photo of the governor voting in Jefferson City. The photo included the caption, "Make sure to cast your ballot & make your voice heard. #Election2014."

The only problem was the photo showed the back of the governor and a woman next to him with her pants pulled down so far that her butt crack was exposed for all the Twitter world to see.

The inevitable joke responses began to pour in. "Get your butts to the polls." One reporter said she had better "get to crackin" on voting. One online site wrote in a headline, "This is why they call it the Show-Me State." Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican, tweeted this to the Democrat, "Keepin' it classy @GovJayNixon."

The mortified gubernatorial staff quickly deleted the tweet and instead shared a photo of the governor chatting with election workers.

We certainly can understand an unfortunately worded tweet that lives in infamy. At least the governor can take comfort that the woman's identity isn't known and he gave some Missourians a laugh.
