Five people arrested on drug charges in Sullivan County

Five people were arrested after Sullivan County authorities said they were involved in drug activity, including selling a drug known as “gravel” close to a Kingsport school.

According to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, deputies found baggies of a substance they believe to be “gravel” at Darrell Larkins' home. Larkins lives across the street from Sullivan Middle School. Investigators also found digital scales and more than $300 in cash at the home.

Jessica Hobbs and Thomas Cole were also at the house at the time and officers said they found drugs and paraphernalia in their possession.

Deputies said they found Christopher Kendrick passed out in a vehicle parked in front of Larkins' home. They said he was lethargic, unsteady on his feet, and unable to complete sentences.

During this time deputies also found Amanda Evans walking along the street. They said she was carrying three bags that contained needles, glass pipes, and other paraphernalia.

All five were arrested and taken to the Sullivan County jail on various drug charges.

Larkins is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Analogue for Resale within 1,000 feet of a school, Maintaining a Dwelling and Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.

Cole was charged with Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Schedule III Drugs.

Hobbs and Evans were charged with Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.

Kendrick was charged with Public Intoxication.
