LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

The Lawrence Fire Department is investigating a fire at a fraternity house at the University of Kansas.

The fire broke out just before noon Tuesday at the Sigma Chi house in the 1400 block of Tennessee Street.

When crews first arrived on the scene, smoke and fire were visible.

The fire was contained to the third floor of the building. It was in an area where student bedrooms and bathrooms are located.

Firefighters are not sure how the fire started. They have not released a dollar-damage amount yet.

There are 74 students that currently live in the fraternity house, but it is not known how many were in the building at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported.

It's possible several students will be displaced due to the fire, but there have been offers from other fraternities and university housing to help those students if necessary.
