ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) -

The Connecticut Lottery said someone won the second prize in its "Lucky for Life" drawing back on Feb. 27, but did not come forward until last week.

The person was from New Haven County and matched the game's first five numbers for the $25,000 prize.

The winner had until Tuesday to collect the winnings before the ticket expired, lottery officials said in a news release.

The numbers drawn on Feb. 27 were 8-11-17-24-43 with the Lucky Ball number, 30.

"The minimum guaranteed amount a second prize winner could receive is $500,000 ($25,000 a year for 20 years)," the release said. "But winners who live longer than that will receive prize payments for the remainder of their natural life. The second prize 'Cash Option' is worth $390,000."

The CT Lottery always urges everyone to check their tickets carefully and to sign the back immediately.

To claim a prize, the winner can go to any CT Lottery retail location prior to Tuesday. Workers there can validate the ticket and present it to the lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.
