Pedestrian hit and killed in Bristol, Va.

BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) -

Bristol, Virginia Police are investigating an early morning crash in which a pedestrian was hit and killed by a pickup truck.

According to Bristol Police, the crash happened around 7 a.m. Sunday on Island Road near the intersection with Harmony Drive.

Investigators said David Ausmus, 66, was walking along Island Road facing oncoming traffic when he was hit from behind by a pickup truck driven by Jeremiah Allison, 74.

According to Police, Allison had crossed over the centerline while going around a curve before he hit Ausmus.

The crash is still under investigation and charges may be filed after the investigation is complete.
