Chain-reaction crash slams vehicle into pedestrian

Posted: Updated:
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit during a chain-reaction crash.

The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after the crash occurred about 8 p.m. Friday at 41st Street and Prospect Avenue. Police said the pedestrian's injuries were serious.

A relative of one of the drivers told KCTV5's Betsy Webster that his brother was turning left at the intersection when a second vehicle raced through the intersection in an attempt to beat a yellow light. The second car hit the turning car, which then slammed into the pedestrian crossing at the intersection, police said.

The man said the woman was talking when she was put into the ambulance. He said his brother was shaken up but will be OK.

A juvenile was a passenger in the second vehicle. It wasn't immediately clear whether the occupants of that vehicle were hurt.
