Family again pleads to help to find mother, toddler's killer

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

It was a horrifying double murder that shocked Kansas Citians.

Myeisha Turner and her 3-year-old daughter, Damiah White, were killed inside their new home a year ago this week. Turner's 1-year-old son was spared by the killer, but found wandering around the bodies at their home near 55th Street and Wabash Avenue.

Families of the mother and daughter again pleaded Friday for someone to come forward to provide information that could lead to an arrest. They say they will never give up hope that they will find answers that they desperately need.

"Nothing has been resolved," said Cheryl Turner, who lost her daughter and granddaughter."It's been a whole year and it went so fast."

The family is focused on providing the best for Myeisha Turner's baby boy.

"He's too young to understand what's been happening. But he's been very resilient and cheerful," Cheryl Turner said. "Myeisha was a hard worker. She cared for her children. It's just shocking that something like this happened."

Kansas City Mayor Sly James was among those at Friday's community rally.

"There is no way to make sense of any violent death. But when it's a 3 year old? I mean, seriously," James said. "This is a personal, deliberate I am looking you in the face and killing you type murder. That is not acceptable."

A park roof is painted pink as a reminder to area residents that a little girl and her mother's deaths need to be solved.

Family and officials believe there are answers out there but that potential witnesses are too scared of the killer to come forward.
