A Missouri man wanted for 50 counts of child sex crimes was arrested in Minnesota on Thursday night .
Authorities said James Michael Swett, sought for the crimes by authorities in Andrews County, MO, was apprehended by officers in Cloquet, MN around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Swett is in the Carlton County, MN jail as officials begin the extradition process.
Swett, who was wanted for 14 counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, 14 counts of child molestation, 14 counts of forcible sodomy, three counts of sex abuse, and five counts of sodomy, had been on the run for the last two months.
"An investigation is still ongoing in Minnesota in regards to his arrest, which resulted from a tip that Andrew County sheriff's deputies received along with information forwarded to the Cloquet police," Andrews County Sheriff Bryan Atkins said.
"Quick action and efforts on the part of both agencies are credited to the quick and incident free arrest of this individual," Atkins said.
Atkins said further details will be forwarded as soon as they become available.
