KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The blue-gray smoke from grills and yummy smells wafted over Arrowhead Stadium Thursday evening as the Chiefs made their preseason debut against the Bengals.

"I can't wait until football season," Chiefs owner Clark Hunt declared. "Football is back!"

Fans were thrilled as the Chiefs won their first regular season games but a season-ending loss to the Colts left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans.

But it's a new day and a new season, and Chiefs Kingdom is optimistic.

Hunt said coach Andy Reid and his staff have been working hard. He said the first preseason game is an important tuneup for starters, but also gives the coaches a chance to see battles that determine who is cut from the roster.

Fans arriving at Arrowhead did some changes to parking and tailgating.

Arrowhead is known for having the best tailgating in the NFL. Some fans do get a bit hoggy with parking spaces and taking up several extra spaces for their tents, grills and flat-screen TVs.

The Chiefs are cracking down on this.

Fans will be limited to one parking space per vehicle. This includes tailgate equipment.

Also, the Chiefs want to keep aisles clear for emergency response vehicles. That means fans only have eight feet behind their vehicles for their tailgate equipment including grills, tents and chairs.

Recreational vehicles and other oversized vehicles have different regulations. For more information, click here.

The fans at Arrowhead give the players a huge boost, Hunt said.

"We have the greatest fans in the world. Great to see them tonight at Arrowhead," Hunt said.
