(CNN) – The Peace Corps is pulling hundreds of its volunteers from the three African nations hardest hit by an outbreak of the Ebola virus.

The humanitarian agency says 340 of its workers will temporarily leave Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The evacuation comes as two Peace Corp volunteers were put in isolation after coming in contact with someone who later died of the Ebola virus.

A Peace Corps spokeswoman says the volunteers are not showing symptoms and will return to the United States once they receive medical clearance.

As of last week, the World Health Organization had confirmed more than 800 Ebola cases in the region, but suspects there have been as many as 1,200 cases.
