KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police have one man in custody suspected of robbing a bank on the Country Club Plaza on Monday afternoon.

The robbery happened just after 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Commerce Bank, located at 118 W. 47th St. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect was last seen driving from the bank on Wyandotte Street. Just a few minutes later, a Kansas City police helicopter began following the suspect, who was in a pickup truck.

The suspect jumped out of his vehicle near East 77th Street and Brooklyn Avenue about 1:55 p.m.

He was caught after a foot chase. A police dog bit the suspect during the stop. An ambulance was ordered for the suspect.

Kathryn Sellaco said she almost got caught up in the dangerous race through town.

"It was a very crazy experience," she said. "His car swiped right in front of mine, and it almost hit the hood."

And though the wild ride is now over and the suspected bank robber is in police custody. The whole ordeal leaves Sellaco and her mother terrified.

"He looked crazy and especially how he almost went over the huge curb and almost hit the car. We were both screaming," Sellaco said.

A Commerce Bank official said the bank will be back open for business as usual Tuesday morning. There is no word yet on what charges the man faces.
