Man discovers black widow spider in broccoli at Ohio Kroger

Sometimes you might find a stray bug or worm in your produce, but a dangerous black widow spider? Believe it. That was the case for Jacob Vaughn, a third-year medical student at UTMC, who bought a bunch of fresh broccoli at Kroger in Maumee, only to find a large arachnid alive and acting feisty on the vegetables. The South Toledo man said he discovered the spider while washing off the broccoli before cooking it when "the spider came out and started waving his hands. It was pret...

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The candlelight vigil that was planned for Sunday night for 16-year-old Tyler Mcintoush has been moved to Monday night at 8pm.

Tyler was shot and killed early Thursday morning at the intersection of Collingwood Ave. and Boston Place in the Old West End.

The vigil will be at the Toledo Maritime Academy, where Tyler was a student.

The school is also accepting donations for Tyler's family.

Toledo Police say they still have no motive in this case, or suspects in custody.

"He's the kind of person you will miss with everything you have," said Sheri Rodgers, McIntoush's former teacher.

McIntoush would have been going into his junior year at the Maritime Academy.

"It's hard to believe that school starts in three weeks and he won't be bursting through the doors with all his energy and getting us all pumped up in the morning," said Maritime Academy Principal Jodi Johns.

Those that knew him say McIntoush didn't walk - he danced through life. They say his favorite subject was art, he loved Lady Gaga and Beyonce, and he worked to fund his love of shopping. They say he really cared for others.

According to the school staff, McIntoush was on his way home after walking a friend and fellow Maritime student to their own home when he was shot.

"When I found out he was walking his friend home, it didn't surprise me," Rodgers said. "That's what he would have done. He would make sure they got home safe and then he would walk himself home."

Toledo Police are still looking for help to solve this crime. Anyone with information that may help police should call Crimestopper at 419-255-1111.

Donations can be mailed to or dropped off at the Maritime Academy. Checks should be made out to "The Maritime Academy of Toledo Foundation" with a note on the check that says "Tyler Memorial Fund."
