NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man has been arrested after police say he tried to sell drugs to detectives in south Nashville on Thursday.

Metro detectives said they bought heroin from Anthony Bowles three different times this month and arranged another meetup on Thursday on Una Antioch Pike.

When officials tried to arrest Bowles, they said he ran away, tossing a pistol on the ground.

The 23-year-old was arrested after a brief chase.

Metro Nashville Police said they seized 14 grams of heroin, 100 Xanax pills and a gun at the scene and that they found a second handgun, digital scales and counterfeit money at Bowles' home on Ottenville Avenue.

Bowles is charged with possessing heroin and Xanax for resale in a drug-free school zone, felony gun possession and evading arrest.
