Police arrest suspect after reported sexual assault

OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

Police said they've arrested a suspect who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman in her apartment on July 24.

The arrest was made Thursday about 11:40 a.m.

In July officers were called to West 119th Street and Lennox Drive about 12:51 a.m. where a 25-year-old woman told them she was sexually assaulted and battered. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police originally called the incident "strange" and "different". They said the woman doesn't know her attacker, but there were no signs of forced entry. They said her door may have been left unlocked, but they didn't know back in July.

According to police, an early interview with the woman didn't yield enough details to piece everything together, so they planned on doing a more thorough interview shortly afterwards.

A spokesperson for the Olathe Police Department said the suspect is also being arrested for crimes that happened on Dec. 6. The suspect will be held in the Johnson County jail to await formal charging by the Johnson County district attorney's office.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
