Overland Park police seek 2 in beauty supply store thefts

Posted: Updated:

Police are requesting help in identifying two shoplifting suspects who hit a beauty supply store, taking thousands of dollars worth of products.

The pair also recently hit another beauty supply store in Johnson County, Overland Park police said.

The man and woman hit the Overland Park store on July 12 and 14, taking over $1,000 worth of products from that store alone, police said.

Detectives say the male suspect removes items from their packaging and places them inside his pockets while the woman distracts the employees.

The woman, police say, pretends to have forgotten her credit card and both leave the store without paying for anything.

"This has happened on two different occasions within a three day period in Overland Park alone and then there was another Johnson County store that had been hit as well by the same couple, so we're talking about several thousand dollars worth of merchandise stolen from these merchants," said Officer Gary Mason.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s, approximately 5'4" tall with a thin build. One witness stated she had a tattoo outline of a blue and green dragon on her left calf.

The man is described as tall, with an average build, in his late 30s to early 40s and has a nose ring on the left side. He had a limp on his right leg and has been seen with and without a cane.

Surveillance video has also shown him using the cane to support both legs.

Anyone with information on the identity of the individuals is asked to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS or Overland Park police at 913-535-3193.
