Chiefs training camp ready to welcome fans

Posted: Updated:
ST. JOSEPH, MO (KCTV/AP) -

Kansas City Chiefs fans can join the team at training camp starting Thursday.

The Chiefs signed offensive tackle Ryan Harris and linebacker Josh Mauga while waiving linebacker DeRon Furr on Thursday before their first full-squad practice of training camp.

Training camp is held at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Click here for directions to camp.

Of course, the big news of the day is the arrival of Jamaal Charles. The Pro Bowl running back was expected at practice after agreeing to terms on a two-year contract extension that will result in $18 million in additional money and keep him with the Chiefs through the 2017 season.

Outside linebacker Justin Houston is also expected at camp after skipping the entire offseason as he angles for a new deal. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract.

The Chiefs have also placed fullback James Baker on the reserve/did not report list.

Thursday's training camp kicks off at 3:30 p.m. The rest of the practice days will start at 8:15 a.m.

The only days that require paid admission are opening day of camp and Family Fun Day on Saturday. Admission is $5 per person with children 3 and under admitted for free.

Fans are admitted free to all the rest of the Chiefs' practices. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets online at gogriffons.com

All fans coming to Chiefs training camp will park in Lot H, which is the lot closest to the practice fields at Spratt Stadium. Parking is $5 per car or $15 for buses and RVs. Daily parking passes can also be printed in advance at gogriffons.com.

The proceeds from the parking go to Missouri Western State University.

After every practice, a group of Chiefs players will sign autographs.

Don't forget, KCTV5 News is your home of the Chiefs.
