Trial date set for Del. Morrissey in teen sex crime case

Posted: Updated:
HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A jury trial for Del. Joseph D. Morrissey (D-Henrico) has been set in the case connected to his relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Morrissey has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Prosecutors say Morrissey had sex with a teenage part-time receptionist at his law office, as well as other sexual encounters.

Morrissey said he will not resign from the Virginia House of Delegates despite the charges.

In court, the defense planned to file a motion to remove Bill Neely as the special prosecutor handling the case. The trial has been set for December 15-18 of this year.
