Jim Kosek

Jim Kosek joined KCTV5 in July 2014. Jim is an experienced meteorologist who worked most recently for KTVX in Salt Lake City. Before that, he spent 25 years in a variety of roles at AccuWeather Inc., which is based in State College, PA.

He has received numerous awards including the Maine Association of Broadcasters' Best Forecast in multiple years along with recognition for Salt Lake City's most accurate forecast.

Jim is excited about coming to Kansas City because of our variety of severe weather conditions. He loves humidity and hot weather along with severe thunderstorms and hurricanes. In fact, he and his wife Misty have actually planned vacations to see tropical storms!

Jim and Misty have a 4-year-old son, Miles. Jim is also a big animal lover and works with pet rescue organizations in the past. He is excited about being on the Kansas City Zoo show. He has a 7-year-old boxer/lab mix, Chopper, and a 10-year-old cat, Spurs.

Watching sports is a priority for Jim along with playing golf.
