Bridges reopen after Coast Guard corrals runaway dock

Posted: Updated:
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Several metro bridges are back open after a close call with a runaway dock.

The Broadway Bridge, Heart of America Bridge, Christopher S. Bond Bridge and Highway 9 Bridge, were temporarily closed.

The bridges were shut down Sunday night as a precaution because the United States Coast Guard was afraid the dock would hit the bridges and potentially cause structural problems.

Crews eventually managed to get the dock roped down and drag it to the shore at Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park.

The Coast Guard says it still isn't sure where the dock came from.
