Two injured in shooting at party in east Kansas City

Posted: Updated:

The holiday weekend hasn't slowed metro crime, as police seek suspects after a shooting that injured two people.

It was supposed to be a fun night for two women at a party at East 39th Street and Kensington Avenue. Instead, they spent the night at an area hospital, recovering from gunshot wounds.

The two women told police shots were fired about 2 a.m. Sunday from two vehicles, a red Honda and a red Cadillac. It is not clear how many shots were fired or where the women were hit.

Police also aren't sure whether the shooters were at the party. They also don't have a motive for the shooting.

Both of the shooting victims are expected to survive.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
