KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Serious injuries have been reported after a semi collided with Missouri Department of Transportation truck Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened about 9:30 a.m. on southbound Interstate 435 near Front Street. MODOT had set up for a planned work zone on I-435 from Front Street to Highway 24.

Workers had just started when the semi collided with a truck that has a device that is used to cushion the blow of an impact.

A MODOT employee who was inside the truck was taken to the hospital. A spokesman for MODOT didn't know the worker's conditions.

A second person who wasn't a MODOT worker was injured. It wasn't immediately clear whether that person was in the semi or not.
