OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

Flies on the windows prompted neighbors to call police to an Overland Park home, and inside the house officers say they found a dead man.

Detectives said someone killed 51-year-old Chidozie "Joe" Ojiaka.

Officers were called about 3 p.m. on Sunday to the 7900 block of West 75th Street to check on the welfare of the resident. Overland Park police said Ojiaka was the registered homeowner of the house.

On Wednesday, investigators said Ojiaka was stabbed to death.

When officer discovered his body, they said it was badly decomposed.

Neighbors also reported a pungent smell. Police said it is clear the body has been inside for some time.

The circumstances surrounding Ojiaka's death are still under investigation.

It's unclear what Ojiaka did for a living. Police say he was a Nigerian man who had few relatives in the Kansas City area.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS or the Overland Park Police Department at 913-344-8769.
