Jonesboro E911 releases storm report

JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) – Severe weather moved through the Region 8 viewing area Thursday bringing high winds, lots of lightning and rain.

Storms that moved through Izard, Fulton and Baxter Counties, along with Lawrence, Craighead, Greene, and Mississippi Counties knocked out power to thousands of people.

Here is a damage list, according to the Jonesboro E911 Center reports:

  • 45-Reported power lines/poles down
  • 34-Reported trees down
  • 30-Motor vehicle accidents reported (no injuries)
  • 1-Train derailment 
  • 2- Motor vehicle accidents with injuries.
  • 13-Welfare concern calls to check on citizens
  • 58-Jonesboro Fire dispatch calls
  • 14-County Fire dispatch calls
  • 25-EMS dispatch calls (ambulance request)
  • 1206-Telephone calls received

A back-up generator was used for the center for about three hours during the storm. The E911 system is functioning at 100% now, according to E911 Director Jeff Presley.

    After a week of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s, a round of severe weather is working its way across Kansas and into Missouri. StormTrack5 Meteorologist Ronelle Williams says Saturday will start breezy and mild but expects thunderstorms to move in during the second half of the day.
