Jasmin Boothe has raised more than $4,000 and have bought thousands of pajamas to hand to children battling cancer.
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Jasmin Boothe is a spunky and compassionate 7-year-old fighting leukemia.
Before her own appointments at Children's Mercy Hospital, she makes her rounds putting smiles on the faces of the tiniest cancer patients.
So she hands out pajamas, making sure other patients feel like they're at home.
"And when their mom and dad are gone, they can feel comfy in bed too," Jasmin said.
Jasmin was diagnosed with leukemia in November 2012.
Her and her mother, Heidi Boothe, started their cause Jasmin's Jammies after Jasmin noticed some new children in the hospital didn't have cozy pajamas or stuffed animals to hug through their treatments.
Since it started, four schools, community businesses and even Sporting Kansas City has helped out. Together, they have raising more than $4,000 and have bought thousands of pajamas to hand to children battling cancer.
Jasmin's mom said it is helping the whole family get through the diagnosis, while also making the hospital feel more like home.
"There are other kids that are going through the same thing, but we can help them because we know what they feel like. We know what it is like to live here and to be scared and just not knowing what is next," Boothe said. "And to be able to give them a smile and do something for them that we wish someone may have done for us."
