Police are investigating two separate reports of men approaching children in less than a week.
Sugar Creek police say the first incident happened Thursday when a child said a white male in a red vehicle parked on the side of the road, opened the trunk of their vehicle and tried to get the child to come to him.
The child said they didn't know who the man was and never had contact with him. The child went into her home. When she returned back, the red van returned and drove slowly through the neighborhood.
The second incident, according to police, happened Wednesday when a white male in a dark-colored van followed a child out walking. When the 14-year-old girl stopped walking, the man would either stop or reverse the van away from the child who was walking to her summer school bus stop. When the child began walking again, the man would follow.
Police said the man never spoke to the child and only followed. The man was parked initially behind a vacant house.
The Sugar Creek Police Department is trying to identify and speak to the man or men involved in these incidents, and are asking that anyone with information call them at 816-252-5560. If someone sees suspicious activity, they should call 911 right away.
