An aircraft headed from Excelsior Springs, MO, to the Kansas City International Airport had to make an emergency landing Saturday.

Joe McBride with KCI said the single-engine experimental aircraft had two people on board when it had to land in a cornfield. The location is near Northwest 108th Street and North Robinhood Lane, 2 miles east of the airport and just southeast of Interstate 435 and Interstate 29.

McBride said the plane landed safely and no one was injured.

An engine issue caused the unexpected landing.

The fire department is also on scene.
